If your New Year’s resolution is to start dating and find that relationship you always wanted, an opportunity awaits you this weekend…
That's right! Dating Sunday is today, January 7.
Dating Sunday is the busiest day on dating apps. So if you’re ready to date in the new year, go to your favorite dating app, spruce up your profile and start swiping!
So why start on Dating Sunday?
Well, it’s the busiest swipe day of the year for people who are interacting on dating apps. According to Tinder, on Dating Sunday, members receive responses an average of 19.4 minutes faster than any other day of the year.
Don’t go on dating apps with the same ole' profile…
It’s a new year and time for a refresh! Be sure you are sharing your interests and the things you like to do in your spare time. If you love to cook, mention that you love cooking. It’s possible you could go to a cooking class together. If you are a runner, why not have a date where you two go on a run? How amazing would that be?!
Don’t forget to update your photos! You don’t have to wait for Dating Sunday to do that. Tinder found that 2200+ new photos were uploaded last year. You want a fresh new look in the fresh new year! By all means, keep the filters to a minimum. No one wants to go on a date to meet somebody that looks nothing like their photos. Truth in advertising holds true with dating profiles.
Be sure your photos not only have a great selfie with a smile, but show one of you doing something fun - something you enjoy doing. If you enjoy going to concerts, post a picture of you with the band in the background. If you enjoy tennis, have a picture of you holding that racket and ball! The point is to have fun with it.
It’s also a Sunday, which means there’s tons of football games on. Why not start off your profile saying something about your favorite team? If you’re rooting for the New England Patriots, start off saying GO PATS!! If you have a fun and engaging profile, you’re going to get more likes, more messages, and more interaction. Just have fun with it.
Have a clear mind.
If you go into Dating Sunday with a bad attitude (or any day for that matter) you’re not going to have a good experience. Go into it ready to have a good time, WITHOUT pressure - that means zero expectations. You have to have the right mindset to go into dating. The better your mood - the BETTER YOUR EXPERIENCE.
Don't be cheap, you're worth it!
With so many people on dating apps that day, it’s a good idea to invest in the app you’re using. You’ll get to test out their premium features, see who likes you (if it’s not one of the apps that shows it blind) and really narrow the field on who you want to engage with. I’m not saying you should do it for a long period of time. I actually recommend you only do it for the shortest amount of time possible. Don’t forget to cancel your subscription. You can always go back and repurchase. And trust me, the dating apps are always looking to offer you a discount to bring you back.
How will I spend Dating Sunday? I’ll be with my friends, and we’ll all be on our phones, cleaning up our profiles, adding new photos, swiping, comparing notes, and messaging those people we’d like to meet. Might as well make it a party!
